The town of Rohel is located between Lemmer, Joure and Heerenveen. The Eefting campsite is located near the Tjeukemeer, the largest lake in Friesland. Here you can enjoy peace, space and water. On the northeastern shores of the Tjeukemeer, the farm of the Eefting family is located in the wide landscape, where there is an opportunity to camp at the farm.
What does Camping Eefting have to offer?
Camping Eefting is a campsite for true animal lovers. There are sheep, cows, and horses on the campsite. You can brush and pamper the horses, and even go horseback riding. With a farm that houses riding horses, where both young and old can enjoy and relax from their often busy and hectic lives, you'll have a wonderful vacation. At Camping Eefting, you can enjoy horseback riding with instruction and there are various playground equipment. Your dog is also welcome at this campsite.
Surroundings of Camping Eefting
About 500 meters from Camping Eefting is the Tjeukermeer, where it's possible to moor your boat. There's also a beautiful beach for swimming and the opportunity to enjoy a lunch, dinner, or drinks at the pavilion. Within the Dutch province of Friesland, the Tjeukemeer is the largest inland lake. It is located in the Southwest, in the municipality of De Friese Meren, on the border of the former municipalities Lemsterland and Skarsterlân.
The westernmost part of the Tjeukemeer is intersected by a highway, the A6. Here, the Follegasloot connects to the Prinses Margrietkanaal. On the north side, you'll find the Scharsterrijn and the Zandwater, and on the east side, the Broeresloot. The lake covers approximately 22 km², but it's not equally deep everywhere. Some parts are less than a meter deep. In the lake, you'll find the islands Tsjûkepolle, Marchjepolle, and Ganzetippe. Around the lake are the villages of Echten, Echtenerbrug, Rohel, Delfstrahuizen, Oosterzee, and Oldeouwer, where various activities are available. Additionally, there are charming water sports towns like Lemmer, Terherne (the Chameleon village), and Langweer. Then there's also the atmospheric Balk, along the Luts river, and Sloten. Sloten, with its 745 inhabitants, is one of the smallest cities in the Netherlands. The Friesian Balloon Festivals is an annual event held from the Nutsbaan in Joure. During the event, approximately 35 hot air balloons take flight, and various side activities are organized. Since 1986, the Balloon Festivals have been held. This event was so successful that it became an annual event. In 2005, the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in grand style. Unique balloons from different countries took flight, including a locomotive from Germany and a dragon from the United States. The event has earned Joure the nickname "Balloon City" and is one of the largest balloon events in the Netherlands.
