What does Camping Tikvah have to offer?

The campsite is 2 kilometers from the village of Hooghalen (9 km south of Assen). The site is surrounded by heaths, sand drifts, fens, coniferous and deciduous forests. It is a unique cycling and walking area. There are various hiking trails and a cycling junction 70 meters away, which connects to the extensive cycling network in Drenthe.

The memorial center of the former “Kamp Westerbork” is 750 meters away from Camping Tikvah. This is well worth a visit (also suitable for children). Guided tours are given daily during the holidays and from spring. Children can swim in the forest in the Ieberenplas. It is a half hour cycling through the woods and the water is very clean. Also 750 meters from the campsite is the Melkwegpad, an educational walking route that focuses on the fascinating world of the universe and the largest radio telescopes in Europe. Young and old learn in a playful way about the operation of the enormous dishes. It also starts from the grounds of the Camp Westerbork Memorial Center on the Melkwegpad. Many other excursions are possible in the vicinity of the campsite. The center of Assen and Westerbork are only 9 km from the campsite and places such as Emmen, Groningen and Meppel can all be reached within half an hour.
