The authentic nature of Texel

The famous island of Texel is located in the remarkable nature reserve of the Wadden Sea. The rhythm of the day is not determined by people, but by the tides. Therefore, you will only find nature that you cannot find somewhere else in the world. A ferry departs from Den Helder. If you are a real adventurer, you could also make the crossing by foot and go mudflat walking (only possible at low tide). From Den Helder you can walk over the seabed to Texel.

On Texel itself you can enjoy a wonderful bike ride or walk along the paths in the forests, dunes, heaths and the most beautiful beaches. Learn everything about it at Ecomare. Ecomare is a Texel museum, seal sanctuary, aquarium and bird sanctuary all in one. The day will be a guaranteed success if you end it with an ice-cold Skuumkoppe from the Texel beer brewery.  

Noord-Holland has the most fun day trips for children and the beautiful beaches

Noord-Holland is a province that is suitable for the whole family. There are numerous family parks to be found here. For example: Sprookjeswonderland, which is fairy tale like. If the weather is nice or not, you could always go to Speeltuin de Holle Bolle Boom. Here you can find an indoor as well as an outdoor playground and even a water playground. Bring your swim shorts and swimsuits! Playground Oud Valkeveen is also a playground and a mini amusement park. There is a roller coaster, bumper cars, a train and pedal boats!

During the warm summer days, it is wonderful to pay a visit to the beach. There are many of them in Noord-Holland. One of the cleanest beaches is the one in Julianadorp aan Zee, they even have a Blue Flag Certificate. The beach of Egmond aan Zee is a family beach par excellence. You can relax and fish for crabs. For smaller children, the Enkhuizer beach is perhaps the most suitable. Here the water is very shallow, so the little ones can also enjoy the beach. The IJsselmeer also has beautiful beaches. The Waterland beach Hemmeland, Slobbeland Volendam or near our campsite in Medemblik.

Explore the capital Amsterdam

The capital of the Netherlands has the allure of a big metropolis. However, everything can be reached by foot. It is a fantastic city to go shopping, visit museums, walk along the city canals or just to soak up the culture. The beautiful canal houses and historical monuments that date back to the golden age are authentic. One example is the Palace at Dam Square. Leidse square is the place where everything happens. Here you can find many terraces, cinemas, the municipal theatre, other theatres and nightlife.

The Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank House are the places of interest that you should not miss out on. However, a canal cruise is also amusing. The Artis Zoo, the eldest zoo of the Netherlands in the city centre, which will not close after sunset during the summer months is great for children. Kids and parents who are not scared should go to the Amsterdam Dungeon, which is the city’s most scary and thrilling attraction.
