National Park Cevennes

Museum Alésia

This building is located at the exact spot where the Roman army camped during the famous battle of Alésia against the Gauls. The leader of the Gauls was the first to unite the different Celtic people. But it was too late, because after the cavalry was defeated, the Gauls withdraw to the city Alésia. Caesar built a line of defense around the city and waited. When the Celtic reinforcements arrived after several months, they couldn't reach Alésia. After the battle of Alésia of Roman empire became bigger and the Gauls were forced to live in Caesar's empire. The panoramic terrace on the third floor offers a view of the battlefield and Mont-Auxois.

Colmar

Colmar is a small city near the German border. This is why the city has both Frence and German influences. Walking around in this city is an experience itself. Most houses are half-timered. These houses are built in the 15th century and are already impressive. There are many different activities. For example, in the museum Underlinden you will find art from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
