The city of Mulhouse, like Strasbourg, has a beautiful historic centre. The city already existed in the ninth century and thus carries centuries of history with it. Not-to-be-missed sights include the 1551 town hall and the Bollwerk, a remnant of the 14th-century city wall. Another highlight is the neo-Gothic Temple Saint-Étienne. You can also visit a lot of museums in Mulhouse. The most famous of these are the Cité du Train, a museum about the history of railways, and the Cité de l'Automobile, dedicated to old cars. Those interested in fashion should definitely visit the Musée de l'impression sur étoffes, where you will learn all about textile printing. Near Mulhouse, you will also find the Écomusée d'Alsace, an open-air museum where you walk in 19th- and 20th-century Alsace. There are over 70 authentic and reconstructed traditional farms other buildings dating from 1850 to 1950. Old crafts are still practised and visitors can take part in workshops.

The historic centre of Colmar

Also visit Colmar, perhaps the most beautiful town in the region! It is located between Strasbourg and Mulhouse. Fun fact about this town is that the Disney film Belle and the Beast was inspired by Colmar! It is like travelling back in time when you walk through its medieval centre or visit the Maison Pfister and the 13th-century Eglise Saint-Martin. By the way, you can also experience this when you visit the castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg in Alsace-Vogezen; you will feel like you are back in the Middle Ages! Discover what a defensive stronghold looked like in the 15th and 16th centuries.
