Last year, Kim (@het.reiskoffertje) spent a glamping weekend at Camping Kempen in Belgium with her boyfriend. Neither of them had ever stayed in a safari tent before, so this weekend was all about their first glamping experience. What would it be like to stay in a safari tent, and would glamping be the right kind of holiday for them?

It didn't take long to find out: they absolutely loved it! In this blog, as well as her own blog, Kim takes you along on their weekend at Camping Kempen and shares her experience of the safari tent, the campsite and the surrounding area.

Staying in a luxury safari tent

During their weekend at Camping Kempen, Kim and her boyfriend stayed in a fully equipped 4-person safari tent with private bathroom facilities. The tent has two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and a spacious veranda with seating. Everything you need for a comfortable weekend away!

“What we especially loved was having our own bathroom with a rain shower, toilet and washbasin. It meant we didn't have to carry all our things across the campsite to the sanitary facilities. When we arrived, we also immediately noticed how clean the safari tent was. Everything looked neat and well cared for, which was a great start to our weekend!”

Glamping in the heart of the Belgian Kempen

Camping Kempen is surrounded by greenery in the beautiful Belgian Kempen. It's the perfect place if you love spending time in nature! Several walking and cycling routes start directly from the campsite, making it easy to explore the surrounding area.

There's also plenty to do at the campsite itself. You'll find a cosy brasserie with a terrace, various sports fields and a swimming pool. There's also a small shop for your everyday essentials. Fancy a day out? Several great attractions and places to visit are within easy reach of the campsite. It's an ideal destination for both a weekend getaway and a longer holiday!

Walking and exploring the Belgian Kempen

There's plenty to discover in the surrounding area too! Bobbejaanland amusement park is just a five-minute drive away, making it perfect for a fun-filled day. Prefer spending time in nature? Around half an hour away you'll find Landschap De Liereman, where several walking trails begin. The 4-kilometre red route, which takes you along wooden boardwalks, is especially worth doing!

A wonderful weekend at Camping Kempen

“We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, the safari tent and the beautiful surroundings. Even in September, it was still wonderful to stay in the safari tent. Having our own bathroom and a fully equipped tent made our stay even more comfortable. Add the beautiful walks in the area and, for me, the experience was complete!”

Kim and her boyfriend's first glamping experience was definitely one they'd love to repeat! They had a wonderful weekend at Camping Kempen and would love to go on another Vodatent holiday in the future.
