On a holiday with a baby

You have been going on a camping holiday for years such as in a sun lodge, or with a camping tent. Now the youngest member of the family goes on holiday with you. For the first time a holiday trip with a baby, there is no need to leave your favourite type of holiday behind you. Camping with a baby is definitely possible. However, good preparation is very important. Think about choosing a suitable campsite. Our staff will be happy to help you find out. We have put together a list of travel tips when you go camping with a baby.

A completely decorated safari tent

When you go camping with Vodatent, the completly decorated safari tent is almost ready for you and your baby. At most campsites that work together with Vodatent, it is possible to book a baby bed (without bedlinen) and an extra baby chair. The costs for this are €2, - per night for the entire set. If you do not like to pay the extra expenses, you could bring it from home. When you do go camping with a baby, we have a few tips for you to do beforehand:

  • Check your first aid kit and the travel pharmacy in advance, so that you have the right medicines with you. Think of medicines for teething, ORS etc.
  • Bring enough baby food with you, because this is not always for sale abroad.
  • Bring a good thermos. For example, you can boil water in the evening to make a milk bottle at night or the next morning.
  • Bring a baby pop-up tent. This can be used as a bed, playpen and playground and repels mosquitoes.
  • Make sure you have a pitch with enough shade.
  • Bring enough change kits or check if there is a washer and dryer available on the campsite.
  • If you book a children's package, get your own bedlinen and bring a sleeping bag and extra blankets.
  • Bring an inflatable pool and play mat with plasticized bottom.
  • Buy disposable bibs and disposable washcloths in advance.

Baby friendly campsites

When you go on holiday with your child for the first time, or more often, there are a few considerations for your family. When you are camping with a baby, it is very important that there are enough shaded areas on the campsite. When the safari tent is in the sun all day, the baby will hardly sleep. Another consideration might be that the campsite is car-free. Not all day cars entering and leaving the camping field. What is also useful to pay attention to when you go camping with a baby is:

  • What are the sanitary facilities like? For example, is there a special baby room?

Advantages of renting a safari tent

As a parent, you should not think about setting up a camping tent when you arrive at the campsite. Another advantage of renting a fully furnished safari tent is that you do not have to drag all your stuff back and forth. The safari tents at Vodatent are fully furnished and equipped with all modern conveniences.

Trial camping

A holiday with a baby is certainly possible. With the right preparations, it will be a great holiday for baby and parents. When you are going camping with a baby for the first time, it might be a good idea to go on a trial camping trip. It might sound crazy, but first rent a safari tent closer to home. Then you will know if you have got everything you need for your camping holiday further from home. An additional advantage is that the baby can also get used to camping.
