A weekend away in the Benelux! Belgium, Luxembourg, or in The Netherlands. Unfortunately, a weekend like this always flies by far too quickly, so you don't want to be on the road for too long. But luckily you can also experience the holiday feeling close to home. It is always difficult to choose the place that best suits your needs. But with these tips, we will make it a bit easier for you.
Luxembourg
This country is definitely not to be missed if you are a fan of the Middle Ages and old castles. Here, for example, you have Clervaux Castle, Wiltz Castle or you can visit Luxembourg's largest castle in the town of Vianden.
From Vianden castle, for example, you have Camping Vallee de l'Our just 15 minutes away by car. This campsite is located on the River Our. A great place to cool off or go fishing, alone or with the kids.
A little further on in the Ardennes in Luxembourg, you will also find the Val d'Or campsite. Here you will find yourself in a hilly landscape in the middle of nature. These hills make it the ideal place for the more adventurous among us to experience the height differences on one of the various mountain bike tours. Would you rather take it a bit easier? There are also plenty of hikes in the area you can join. Or go exploring on your own, and make your own way through the beautiful nature.
Belgium
Just over the border but still a completely different experience. Different culture, different food, different buildings... In any case, our neighbouring country is the perfect place to enjoy a weekend.
Choose green and visit one of our campsites in the Ardennes. Here you can take lovely walks, the kids can play and if you have an enthusiastic dog, this is of course the ideal place to let him sniff around. At Camping Village Sy and Camping de Chênefleur your pet is more than welcome. A visit to La Roche en Ardenne is also a must. Visit the castle, take a ride in the train or relax on one of the many terraces.
At Camping Siësta in the Antwerp Kempen you can experience the ideal mix of nature and city. The campsite is located in a wooded area where you can go on safari with the Siësta Ranger, which of course perfectly complements your stay in the safari tent. But are you tired of all that green for a while and feel like a trip to the city? Then you can be in beautiful Antwerp within 30 minutes. Here you can spend a day shopping and exploring the city centre. But the ZOO Antwerp is also right in the city centre!
The Netherlands
Of course we know the typical culture of the Netherlands, tulips, cheese and windmills. Yet there are still plenty of beautiful places in our own country waiting to be discovered. And when you go back home, you'll be home in no more than 3 hours (without traffic jams 😉 ).
Always wanted to visit the farmer? Turn your visit into a weekend at farm campsite the Berghoeve! It is a quiet campsite where children can play freely. And that playing does not stop with everything there is to do! You can feed the goats, bunnies and chickens and they also have an animal shelter on the farm. The perfect stay for the animal lovers among us. This campsite is located in Drenthe, so there is no shortage of cycle routes in the area.
On the coast, the Zeeland coast. That's where Camping Gorishoek is located! Take a trip to Sint-Annaland beach to sunbathe or get a breath of fresh air. Do you like diving? Then be sure to visit dive site Strijenham, which is a 10-minute drive from the campsite. There are also plenty of picturesque villages in the area, such as Tholen, Stavenisse and Sint-Maartensdijk. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the right place!
